AstraZeneca India Pvt. Limited (AZIPL) is an integral part of the global organisation with a mandate to discover new chemical entities for the treatment of infectious diseases of the developing world. The Company, with its state-of-the-art facility in Bangalore, is dedicated to the “ Discovery of Novel Therapies for the Developing World diseases”, an unique and brave commitment from one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies in the world, a recognition of the talent in India and the environment at Bangalore, a pledge to work together to combat diseases of the developing world like Tuberculosis, which needs a major research thrust to find newer therapies. The R&D facility in India has >90 scientists of international repute working together as a team, contributing effectively to the goal of discovering new and novel therapeutic agents.
The new state-of-the-art Process R&D facility, adjacent to the recently built R&D facility, covering 6000 sq mts on a 3.5 acre plot, will be built to house a team up to 50 more scientists plus associated support staff. The co-location of the Discovery and Process R&D scientists will help AstraZeneca to maximize the scientific interactions and enable shared use of the R&D infrastructure.

AstraZeneca Research Foundation India (AZREFI) organizes seminars, symposia and workshops on subjects at the cutting edge of biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences thereby supporting education and technological innovation in these areas.

AstraZeneca Pharma India Limited (AZPIL), the Marketing Company, has interests in six crucial areas of healthcare: Cardiovascular (with products like Betaloc, Seloken XL, Imdur, Ramace & Plendil); Respiratory ( with products like Rhinocort, Mits Linctus, Bricarex & Bricanyl) ; Maternal Healthcare (Prostodin, Cerviprime, Primiprost & Partocin); Oncology (Zoladex & Arimidex, Nolvadex, Iressa & Casodex) ; Infection (Meronem & Vancocin CP), Pain Control & Anaesthesia (Xylocaine & Sensorcaine). Manufacturing
AZPIL’s manufacturing facility spread across 69 acres of lush, green environs at Yelahanka, Bangalore, has been rated as one of the finest in South East Asia. It has a sophisticated production facility designed to meet the most stringent international standards, conforming to WHO cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) norms. We are an ISO 14001 certified company and we have a full-fledged environment management system in place. We have also, in June 2005, been presented the Golden Peacock Environment Management Award from World Environment Foundation for the year 2004-2005.
